War Uncensored

After a fire destroyed Andrew Carroll's home in Washington, D.C. and all of his possessions, including his family's letters, Andrew was inspired to launch the Legacy Project. After traveling to almost 40 countries around the world, including to Iraq and Afghanistan and through all 50 U.S. states, bestselling military author Andrew Carroll through the Legacy Project, initiated with the goal of preserving wartime correspondence, has collected more than 80,000 never-before-seen letters from every conflict in American history.

The most candid, unusual, and riveting of these letters have been woven together into one powerful performance: War Uncensored. The play takes a forthright look at the thoughts and emotions of troops risking their lives in the line of fire, as well as of their loved ones on the home front who can do nothing but wait. War Uncensored represents the real-life voices of the only true authorities on warfare and its consequences-the heroic individuals who have experienced it firsthand.

So, the Legacy Project's mission continues, and Andrew hopes that War Uncensored will inspire audience members to share their own family's war letters with the Legacy Project. Some of these letters (or e-mails) might even appear in future productions of the show. Please see the Legacy Project Web site for more information.
